Biography

Your Biography
The Brampton Concert Band, one of the oldest community bands in Canada, was founded in 1884 by the mechanics of the Haggert Foundry of Brampton. The band's mandate includes performing at official municipal functions and ceremonies, concerts for the citizens of Brampton, and representing the City of Brampton at local, national, and international competitions and events.

The band has recorded several CD's, with the first in 2002 titled "Canadian Landscape", which is a collection of Canadian music written and arranged for concert bands. The band has commissioned works by prominent composers Fred Stride, Howard Cable, Doug Riley, and Vince Gassi, demonstrating the band's long-standing commitment to Canadian music.

The band has been invited to and played in several international competitions and events, including the Mid Europe Festival in Schladming, Austria; the Jungfrau Music Festival in Interlaken, Switzerland; the La Corpo Bandistico La Beneficenza hosted the band in Sassuolo and Maranello, Italy; WASBE performances in Killarney, Kerry National Park, Cork, and Dublin, Ireland; the French Reeds Riviera Music Festival in La Croix Valmer, France; and a music tour with various joint band performances in London, Carlisle, Putney, and Beverley England.
